NUSofting released Public Beta of Modelonia 2.0 win32
VSTi
Free to download and use until September this year:
NUSofting Modelonia 2.0 Public Beta (currently win32 VSTi, file
name modelonia_1.92.dll)
Modelonia is a powerful "physical modeling" synth which uses a
hybrid of two distinct model 'types' - a plucked-string model,
and a blown-bore (ie trumpet-type) model. Each model may be used
simultaneously, and the signal path allows cross-modulation
between the two models for more interesting and complex tones.
Please note that for many presets the modules named "String" and
"Horn" don't always sound like strings or horns, since the
resonators can be used interactively, therefore you can simply
think of them as resonator 1 and resonator 2, abstractly. The
same goes for the "exciter" modules named "Pick", "Noise" and
"Lips", you can call them exciter 1, exciter 2 and exciter 3,
"Pick" is an impulse generator, "Noise" generates filtered noise,
"Lips" generates a continuos tone which is modulated by the
"Horn" resonator.

and it features many enhancements and changes compared to the
previous release, Modelonia 1.7 - 1.8
With this public beta I
hope to receive enough feedback to release a stable and shining
Modelonia 2.0 for the next Winter.

EMM Knagalis for Mac, beta AU and VST
for OS X
This old gem is still new, one of the best "ethnic synth" (loose
term)
ever made (Knagalis users say so)
the first beta for AU and VST on OS X is available, you can't buy
it yet,
but if you are a Mac user with some spare time
you can have this first beta release for free.
Up to 10 of you, the first ten who will ask me sending an
e-mail,
can have a password (Dash ticket) to download it.

All I ask is to play with it as much as you can and report the
experience.

The Modelonia Player is a
freeware plugin which loads the Modelonia presets
and allows the user to tweak them with few but powerful controls:
firstly the 2 "Mix & Morph"
faders:
Fader 1 : blends the output of the two main resonators of the
Modelonia engine
Fader 2 : balances the cross-modulation between the
resonators
The middle position of the faders set always the original preset
values.
The two faders can be MIDI controlled using CC 45 and
46.
Moreover the Modelonia Player
features:
-- LFO 1 and LFO 2 rate controls
-- Master Volume
-- Master Pitch
-- Octave traspose switch ( one down )
-- Max Polyphony
-- MIDI learn on knobs
